Guardian Requirements and Expectations

Guardians are a very important part of the team that provides Seven Day Residents and International Students their experience in America and at St. Mary's Prep.  They function as a bridge between a student's family and home country, as well as St. Mary's Prep and the U.S.   St. Mary's is continuously looking for better communication with parents, families, and students and therefore hold the role of guardians in high esteem as a vital part of the success of your son's stay at St. Mary's Prep.   Below are the requirements and expectations of the guardian of a Seven Day Boarder and/or an International Student.

Guardians should:

•  Be at least 25 years old.

•  Be a family member or a good acquaintance of the family.

•  Have a home or apartment where a high school student could reside.  (In other words, a guardian    cannot be a college student living in a Dorm).

•  Not have had a misdemeanor in the past five years or have ever been convicted of a felony.

•  Have a good relationship with St. Mary's Prep and the Orchard Lake Schools .

• Live in the United States , preferably Michigan .

St. Mary's Prep reserves the right to make the final decision if an individual meets the requirements of a guardian.
