Financial Aid

Boarders that have been assigned Financial Aid may be asked to work off hours in the Residence Hall. Students will be assigned various responsibilities and times for completion. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: vacuuming and cleaning the halls (including phone areas), stairwells, lobbies, recreation room, etc. Students may also decide to work off service hours in the same manner.

Residents that do not comply with Hall rules, policies, etc. may be assigned Work Crews as part of their sanction.

Seven-Day Boarding Program

The Seven-Day Boarding Program has as its goals, in addition to the goals of the regular boarding program:

•  To provide opportunities for Seven-Day Boarders to learn and be exposed to different aspects of an    American and English speaking culture;

•  To provide a more relaxed-home environment on the weekend;

•  To extend opportunities to develop boarders into young men with Christian morals and principles;

Weekend Activities

Weekends are often times for our Seven-Day Boarders to relax and there are outstanding opportunities to develop their American experience. Besides taking courses in ESL and English at St. Mary's Prep and being exposed to several aspects of an English speaking culture on campus, Seven-Day Boarders will be required to attend an “outing” at least once a month to various events. The purpose of these outings will be to provide opportunities for our boarders to experience and learn more about the culture in the U.S. Some of these outings may include classical concerts, plays, professional sporting events, ski trips, camping trips, visits to historical, art, and other cultural museums. Seven-Day Boarders from the US are expected to participate in these activities. Seven-Day Boarders that make arrangements to go home to their guardians' over the weekend may be excused. When an outing is planned, Seven-Day Boarders that want to be excused must give at least a one-week notice so proper arrangements can be made regarding tickets, etc. Students should expect to pay for their own expenses.

Intramural Sports

Intramural sports are a great way for your students to make friends, build his own character and remain physically fit, if he doesn't have a gym class. Our intramural sports are flag football, 3 on 3 basketball league and the annual ping pong tournament. We do provide time for students to work out in the dorm recreation room. Of course all activities are monitored and provided by the dorm staff.

HEALTH Insurance/Compliance

ALL BOARDERS MUST HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE BEFORE THE STUDENT ARRIVES TO THE ST. MARY'S CAMPUS. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOUR STUDENTS UNFORTUANATE DELAYED ADMITTANCE INTO THE BOARDING PROGRAM. Insurance forms, cards, etc. should be kept in the Hall Office in the student's file. Students that do not have proof of insurance cannot participate in the Boarding Program . Proof of Insurance should be faxed before the beginning of the school year to either the Dean of Residents at 248-706-1189 or the Dean of Admissions at 248-683-1740. PLEASE CALL OUR SCHOOL NURSE AT 248-683-0539 FOR ANY INFORMATION REGARDING INSURANCE COMPANIES.
