A progressive, accelerated, and more intensive version of Biology I as listed above.
Chemistry req 10 or 11 2 sem
This full-year course includes a discussion of the following topics: name and properties of common elements, nomenclature, compounds, status of matter, atomic and kinetic theories, bonding, and equilibrium. A working algebraic knowledge is absolutely necessary for success in this course.
Honors Chemistry req 10 or 11 2 sem
A progressive, accelerated, and more intensive version of the Chemistry course as listed above.
Zoology el. 11, 12 2 sem
As just one of the electives available in our science department, Zoology is the intensive study of animal life. The hierarchy of the wild is discussed, as students come to understand the fascinating animal species that occupy our planet with us.
Anatomy el. 11, 12 2 sem
Students learn the specific anatomy and physiology of one particular species, homosapiens. A laboratory segment brings students in direct contact with anatomical and physical body structures, usually involving laboratory cats used for dissection.
Astronomy el 10, 11, 12 2 sem
In this course, students examine the vastness of space. The course emphasizes the fundamental principles of planetary motion, properties, and evolution of the sun, planets, stars, galaxies, and the universe.
Physics el 11, 12 2 sem
This two-semester course deals with the following topics in a lecture/lab format: mechanics, heat, sound, optics, magnetism, and electricity and flight principles. An emphasis is placed on the application of forces and energy in the physical world.
AP Physics el. 11, 12 2 sem
A progressive, accelerated, and more intensive version of the Physics course described above. An Advanced Placement option is available.
Engineering Science el. 11, 12 1 or 2 sem
Our Engineering Science course provides the St. Mary’s Prep. student with an early insight into the fields of engineering; Mechanical, computer, and electrical engineering are all explored in this higher-level math and science course.
