CAMPUS MINISTRY
The Campus Ministry team at St. Mary’s Preparatory is composed of faculty/staff and students on each of the five committees working in conjunction with the Campus Minister and Administration to promote the Spiritual life in the mission of the school and our Patroness St. Mary.
The following is a brief objective of the five committees:
The Service Team mission is to provide and define what makes good service (contact with people, social justice component, emphasis on service to and understanding of the poor, service without reward, reflection time after project...). In addition, the Service team plans service opportunities throughout the school year (school wide, school sponsored), plan an annual service trip to places such as: New Orleans, Appalachia, El Salvador and inner cities working with Habitat for Humanity.
The Worship Team will be planning the Eucharistic and non-Eucharistic liturgies for the school community. The team will be working closely with the music department to further enhance the music ministry, and seeking school wide prayer opportunities, i.e.: 9/11, Advent, Lent, Our Lady of the Rosary, Martin Luther King Day, etc.
The Retreat Team works with planning and implementing retreats for the faculty/staff and the students. There will be leadership opportunities for the students and the faculty. The team will also look at various speakers to enhance the St. Mary’s Preparatory community (students, faculty/staff, parents, alumni).
The Vocation team focus is to bring the religious life, married life, and single life ministries into a more faith challenging experience for the students and faculty/staff. Provide opportunities to experience the vocations in life. To provide a religious studies course and exposure to the religious world for the students, faculty, families, and greater community. To help staff, students and faculty answer the question, “What is God calling me to?”
The Community Building team’s main goal is to provide “healthy social activities,” i.e. movie night, horseback riding, bowling. Start support groups in the school for students and faculty/staff (alcohol, divorce, dating, etc). Begin a greater peer ministry team in and out of the school.
