CODE OF CONDUCT
Student Conduct
A positive attitude toward oneself and one’s neighbor is a requirement at St. Mary’s Prep. Students are guided in their attitude and conduct by St. Mary’s Parent/Student Handbook. The Code of Conduct is based on Christian values, which must be part of the external action of each student with the goal to aid students in developing self-discipline. These rules apply to all students at school functions on or off campus, as participants or spectators, or when using school-sponsored transportation. Students are bound by the Code of Conduct 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whether in school or not. The Headmaster, Dean of Discipline, and Dean of Resident Students determine the appropriate action to be taken for any offense against the Code of Conduct. Actions include a detention to be served after school hours, a Saturday morning detention, suspension, and expulsion for the most serious offenses. Dorm discipline also includes work crews that take care of the maintenance tasks in the dormitory. At the conclusion of the academic year, the administration reviews each student’s academic and social performance, as students are invited to return to St. Mary’s on a yearly basis.
