ADMISSIONS
Admissions Procedure
Admission to St. Mary’s Preparatory is based on a personal interview with the Dean of Admissions or a day visit, a transcript from the student’s previous school, and recommendations from the principal, an English teacher, and a science or mathematics teacher. Incoming freshmen must take the High School Placement Test during their eighth-grade year. All applicants must submit a $35.00 (U.S.) Application Fee. International applicants must submit either SSAT scores or a written evaluation of English-speaking ability. After acceptance, international applicants will be required to submit physical examination results, immunization records, and a school release form along with a $500 (U.S) deposit before receiving an I-20 Form. Transfer students should call the Office of Admissions regarding application requirements and deadlines, as well as to receive answers to specific questions.
St. Mary’s does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, disabilities (physical or mental) or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, athletics, or other school-administered programs.
Inquires are welcome at any time. Students are accepted for the fall semester (August) and the spring semester (January). New seniors are accepted only for the fall semester and only in special circumstances. A personal interview with the Headmaster or Dean of Admissions is required. International students should apply well in advance of the start of the new semester to comply with immigration regulations for obtaining the F-1 student visa or I-20.
For more information, please contact the Dean of Admissions at (248) 683-0514.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available, and parents must apply through the School and Student Services. St. Mary’s Preparatory offers financial aid based on need only; no other aid is available. Financial aid is awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Applying early greatly increases the chances of receiving an award. Applications may be requested after a student has been accepted.* St. Mary’s Preparatory financial aid is based upon the market and investment returns; thus, there is never a guarantee that students who apply and qualify will automatically receive the aid requested. Financial aid does not cover books, school supplies, or fees. The balance owed must be resolved through one of the approved payment plans.
The Administration of the Orchard Lake Schools reserves the right to amend all policies, procedures, and requirements contained in this handbook. |
