Checklist
SCHOOL VISIT OR INTERVIEW
All applicants must meet with either the Dean of Admissions or the Headmaster as part of the application process. Prospective students may arrange either a school visit or an interview. Contact the Admissions Office at (248) 683-0514 to make arrangements.
SCHOOL VISIT
Applicants may visit the school for one academic day. They may be paired with a current student and will visit all classes of that student for the day. Visitors should be dressed in accordance with the school dress code. St. Mary’s will provide lunch. This method of introduction to the school is recommended for all students applying during the school year and who live in the general vicinity of the school. If the Admissions Committee determines that there is a need to know more about the applicant or to have answers to specific questions, an interview may be requested.
INTERVIEW
Applicants who are unable to visit during the school year must schedule an interview with either the Dean of Admissions or the Headmaster. If there Admissions Committee determines that there is a need to know more about the applicant or to have answers to specific questions, a second interview may be requested.
APPLICATION FORM
Print or type all information on the application form and submit the completed form to St. Mary’s Preparatory c/o the Admissions Office. Please be sure the appropriate signatures are in place on the back of the form, and a recent photograph has been attached to the front.
APPLICATION FEE
Include with your application, a $35.00 application fee. Checks are to be made payable to “St. Mary’s Preparatory.”
TRANSCRIPT REQUEST
A parent/guardian of the applicant should fill out the parent section of the Transcript Request Form. The form should then be submitted to the Registrar of the school where the application currently attends. For application purposes, St. Mary’s will also accept the final or latest report cards from the last two years of schooling.
ACHIEVEMENT OR PLACEMENT TEST RESULTS
All students applying for admissions to the freshman class are required to take the High School Placement Test. Contact the Admissions Office for more information on the date and time of the test. All students applying after the last test date, or applying to the sophomore or junior class, should submit the results of any standardized testing from the last three years.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Applicants should request the appropriate faculty and administrative personnel fill out the recommendation forms. All forms should be mailed in a sealed envelope directly to St. Mary’s Preparatory from the person who wrote the recommendation.
ACCEPTANCE
After the visit or interview has been completed, all documents have been submitted, and the application fee paid, a decision on acceptance will be rendered in a reasonable amount of time. After acceptance, a deposit of $500.00 is required within four weeks. The deposit is applied to the tuition and reserves a place in the class, rendering the enrollment official.
HEALTH RECORDS AND CA-60 FILES
When accepted to St. Mary’s, health records and CA-60 files must be transferred from previous school to St. Mary’s before a schedule will be given to a student.
