    What are we looking for?

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory seeks deserving students (Boy's and Girl's) who can benefit from and contribute to our school community in a multitude of ways. We request students have a strong desire to grow and expand their faith, intelligence, and personal attributes. While grades and test scores are important, they only tell part of an applicant’s story. Our Dean of Admissions takes great pride in getting to know our prospective students and their families and uses a holistic approach when accepting students to St. Mary’s Prep - every applicant is reviewed as a unique individual.

    The 3 Step Admissions Process

Boy's Division: Shadow at St. Mary’s Preparatory

Spend a day with a current 9th grader by observing a day in the life of a man of Orchard Lake. You will be paired up with a current 9th-grade student (you can request a specific student or one who shares your similar interests). You will arrive at our Admissions Center at 8:15 am where your host will be there to greet you. You will then spend the academic day and will be picked up from the Admissions Center at 1:00 pm.

    Girl's Division: Family Experience Tour

Girls and their families have a unique opportunity to spend some time on campus in a family experience tour. Spend time with our Dean of Admissions getting to know the campus, visiting our facilities, and learning more about the ground breaking, exclusive opportunity you could have the chance to be apart of!

    Submit Your Application

Applications are accepted beginning October 5, 2019. To apply for admissions, families need to complete the online application. Acceptance letters will begin to be mailed on January 24, 2020. St. Mary’s Preparatory is rolling admissions, but we do encourage the admissions process to begin early as enrollment may be capped.
The application deadline for early decision (January 24th) is January 10, 2020

Take the High School Placement Test

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is offered at St. Mary’s Prep three times during the 2019-2020 school year: November 23rd, December 7th, and February 1st. The cost of the exam is $50. To register online, visit www.stmarysprep.com. St. Mary’s Prep does offer a HSPT prep course for 8th graders. Dates for this year's prep classes will be posted in mid-August.

    Will I Be Accepted?

At St. Mary’s Prep, our Dean of Admissions takes a holistic approach when accepting Students to OLSM. We understand that every student who applies is unique, and has strengths and weaknesses in many areas that are different from one student to the next. We examine the following areas when making our decision:

    • GPA from the most current school year, and two years prior
    • High School Placement Test score and other standardized test scores
    • Application
    • Teacher recommendation provided within the application
    • An administrative recommendation provided within the application
    • Shadow day/Interview with the Dean of Admissions

We work closely with families to make sure that any student who wants to come to St. Mary’s Prep has the opportunity to do so. Our Dean of Admissions strongly values the relationships she builds with our applicants and their families. Every family who applies is welcomed and special to us, and we thoroughly enjoy the interpersonal relationships that develop. We work to make sure that every deserving young man has a chance to be a young man of St. Mary’s Prep!

    Applicants Requiring Academic Accommodations

If the applicant is on a current documented and supported IEP, 504 or another form of an accommodation plan, please contact Candace Castiglione, Dean of Admissions at 248-683-0514 or CCastiglione@stmarysprep.com to discuss the applicant. It is important that our staff discusses the applicant’s accommodation plan, so that we may further be aware of the specialized needs of the student. Our priority is to ensure the academic success of every prospective student and having these conversations first is a wonderful way to start. There are also specific forms that need to be completed prior to the High School Placement Test in order for accommodations to be provided. Mrs. Castiglione is happy to provide you with a copy of those forms.
